A couple of weeks back we traveled to attend my Grandfather's memorial service in Connersville, IN. The experience was life- changing: I will never forget it. Things will be different without him and I am grateful for how much of an impact he had on my life. It was touching to share memories with family as well as his childhood friends and classmates from high school and college. Truly a special time, especially as we strolled through the town and visited the homes he grew up in.

I miss you Grandpa and love you very much.

Sandford “Sande” Sicer Miller died on 29 April 2008
In Lexington, Kentucky. Sande was born on 7 April 1925
In New Albany Indiana to William Henry and Marietta (Sicer)
Miller.

Sande grew up in New Albany and Connersville Indiana where his mother, Marietta, taught High School and his father, William, worked at Roots Blower. In high school Sande was on the Tennis team and enjoyed working in the school theater group. He started college in 1943 at Purdue but soon enlisted in the Navy to become a pilot. After WW II ended he went back to Purdue and finished with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1949 and was soon after married to Carol, 25 Jun 1949.

After moving to Chicago where Carol’s family lived he worked for the Johnson Brothers Heating company for several years, tried a small business and then settled into International Harvester starting as a draftsman and finishing as a Project Manager after 20 years of service. After retirement he and Carol moved to Gulf Breeze Florida where their children visited on vacations for 15 years, and they avidly pursued Family Genealogy activities.

Sande enjoyed tennis, archery, reading and especially Boy Scouting where he served as a leader for several years in every location he lived. He enjoyed Philmont and Cole Canoe Base as a couple of the high adventure activities. He also served as a Tennis Umpire for the junior league and tutored many school students in mathematics and other subjects.

Sande is survived by his wife of 59 years Carol Jane (Eubanks) Miller and his children:
daughter Karen Leah Miller and her husband Leonard Oloff
son Scott Kendall Miller and his wife Cleofe “Faye” Miller and their three children; son Stephen and his wife Jessi (Tatoris) and son Andrew; daughter Jennifer and her husband Derek Brown and daughters Aaliyah and Adyson; and son Jonathan;
son Roger Neal Miller and his wife Julia (Meyer) and their two children; daughters Christine and Diana.
